During its first sixty years, USY has shaped the lives of more than 250,000 young adults. Today, as one of the largest and most active Jewish youth groups in the world, USY continues to influence the lives of thousands of Jews and nurtures a new generation of leaders.
In an effort to provide additional support for the future vitality of USY, the USY Alumni Association is pleased to announce its inaugural annual campaign. Our mission is to create new leadership development programs and to provide scholarship opportunities for our young people. Our vision is for every teenager to have the opportunity to participate in USY’s many exciting programs, including USY on Wheels, Israel Pilgrimage and Nativ.
As the High Holidays approach, it is customary to bestow a charitable gift. We hope you will consider making a donation to the USY Alumni Association Fund. The goal for our first year is $300,000. Certainly it is an optimistic goal, and we know we can be successful if you, our alumni who know the power of these programs first hand, will support the campaign. Raising $300,000 will help increase participation to USY on Wheels and Pilgrimage, by 50% thus making it possible to welcome 100 additional teens to each program.
Remember how meaningful your USY experience was - - swimming in the Dead Sea, climbing Masada, late night sing-alongs with friends, spending Shabbat with a host family or davening at sunrise at the Grand Canyon. “Pay it forward” and provide a teenager the opportunity to share those same wonderful experiences. Consider supporting the campaign in two specific ways: first, make a financial donation to the campaign NOW. Donations can be made on line or by downloading and completing the donation form
here. Second, share this information with other USY alumni with whom you are in touch.
As a supporter of the annual campaign, you will be recognized on leadership updates and our website (which will become www.usyalumni.org). You will also have the personal satisfaction of sending a Jewish teenager on the same meaningful journey you traveled. Your generous support will help maintain an environment where Jewish teenagers unite to enhance their sense of Jewish identity, celebrate their Jewishness, get a hands-on understanding of the importance of social action and philanthropy, acquire leadership skills and build lifelong friendships.
